Ukraine is located in East Europe. It is bounded by Belarus to the north, Russia to the north and east, the Black Sea to the south, Moldova and Romania to the southwest as well as Poland, Hungary and Slovakia to the west. The country is a vast undulating plain bound by the Carpathian Mountains to the southwest and the Black Sea to the south. The new government presents its citizens with hope that the country may at last attain true freedom and prosperity.
